Cannery Row
$5 at the door
7:30 Fri May 3rd at BoDiddley’s
We welcome back Cannery Row, a seasoned collection of friends, neighbors, home brewers, pickers, singers, songwriters, conspiracy theorists, and wry observers of the body politic. Featuring Dean Severson (guitar, dobro, pedal steel, questionable humour, hot licks), Carol Anderson (bass, crazy cool vocals), Chris Laumb (guitar and songwriting maestro), Gary Dockendorf (mando and poetic musings) and Mike Sharp (guitar, harp, and political rants), Cannery Row has been gracing local juke joints, whiskey bars and rural back yards for over a decade. Now they’re gracing us.
The band takes its name from a passage from John Steinbeck’s novel: “Cannery Row is a poem, a stink, a grating noise, a quality of light, a tone, a habit, a nostalgia, a dream. Cannery Row is the gathered and scattered, tin and iron and rust and splintered wood, chipped pavement and weedy lots and junks heaps.”
